Travel Tuesday: To Rome with Love

From the movie To Rome with Love

Rome is such a beautiful city. It will not be called 'Eternal City' for nothing. The scorching summer heat welcomed us last summer. Overall, the trip was so worth it.

Watching the movie To Rome with Love made me miss Rome. Been to some locations in the movie.

Hubby and me. This is Rome at night.

Bella Fontana! (beautiful fountain). Rome's fountain of all fountains

A traditional legend holds that if visitors throw a coin into the fountain, they are ensured a return to Rome. (Wikipedia)

Like everybody else, I threw a coin and wished to visit the city again. I would love to return to Rome. I love the food, walking at piazzas, see churches everywhere and try all flavors of gelato.

When you are in Rome and you have time to spare, take a stroll at the cobbled streets and see interesting things around.

Colorful fruit stand! :)

Travel Tuesday: 007 in Thailand

Read this article, 50 years of James Bond: a dream 007 travel itinerary, from Lonely Planet.

As ode to James Bond's 50 years in film, here are the photos taken during our trip in Phuket, Thailand in 2010. These were the locations for the 1974 film The Man with the Golden Gun.

Here it is... James Bond Island. My hubby took and edited this photo.

And this is Phang-nga Bay.

Thursday Travel Trivia: The Alnwick Garden

The Alnwick Garden is perfectly situated in the heart of Northumberland - away from the hustle and bustle of city life. See their official website)

The centrepiece of The Alnwick Garden is the Grand Cascade, a magnificent tumbling mass of water, ending in an eruption of fountains sending 350 litres of water into the air every second. A computer system synchronises four sensational displays that offer not only a visual treat but more interactive enjoyment too for younger visitors who can play amongst the water jets. (from http://www.visitalnwick.org.uk/explore/gardens.htm)

The Garden is the Rose Garden, a mixture of pergola lined paths and walkways, covered in climbing and shrub roses mixed with glorious clematis and honeysuckle. This garden combines colour and fragrance to tempt the senses, with a collection of over 3000 roses.

Travel Tuesday: Venezia, Italia

The 'City of Canals' will always be romantic. Just watched lovers float passed gondolas.

Though I missed its beautiful site on a summer evening, I find this place very picturesque.

One fine day in August. It was scorching hot in Venice. A good excuse to buy gelato every few hours. ;)

These are the photos we took during our summer vacation.

One of the lovely sites

Bell tower of St. Mark or Campanile di San Marco(left)and Doge's Palace or Palazzo Ducale (right)

Saint Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) - beautiful Byzantine architecture

The Grand Canal - "one of the major water-traffic corridors in the city". Take a water taxi or gondola to explore Venice

And speaking of gondolas, you'll see them everywhere. Ask this gondolier and he will take you around. They will also sing for you for additional euros, of course.

I'm chasing and trying to feed the pigeons (which is a no-no) here at Piazza San Marco. ;)
